Jonny Johansson is the creative director and co-founder of Acne Studios. He's always had interests in photography, art, architecture, and contemporary culture. The brand started in 1996, in Stockholm Sweden. Jonny created 100 pairs of jeans to give out to his family and friends. Starting off as a denim brand once Vogue Paris took note of Jonny's creations, his company grew to be an international fashion house.

They are a brand that is focused on the future and sustainability of fashion. Making quality pieces that will last for years. In 2008 the company became a member of Fair Wear Foundation (FWF). They support the company in their work to monitor and improve labor conditions at the factories where their products are made.

Acne Studio's most recent collection Jonny wanted to make a bright collection, he made in lockdown. He said “It feels like a transition to something more positive. I’m very optimistic about what’s happening. I feel positive. I spent more time with myself and my family, and just in the studio with people. It’s been a less stressful period, although the stress has come from somewhere else. I’ve been quite happy, actually, although I know that sounds weird.”

Spring/Summer 2021 Collection

Look 1 - This look is a geode/galactic inspired print, with lots of sparkle and a mixture of playful bright colors with some more muted tones. I think the draped silhouette of the top works really well with out the print is, which I'm sure was intentional in the designing process. The skirt being a wrap skirt I love that the under layer sits higher on the models hips for a little more of a peekaboo of her skin. The crochet bag and flip flops give the overall look a beachy feel.

Look 2 - I don't even know where to begin with this look, It's a lot to look at all together. The shoes are really pretty basic sandals, the sheer socks is a high fashion sock/sandal moment which is interesting. I love socks with platform heels but maybe not so much with scrappy open toe shoes like this. The netting on the bottom of the dress reminds me of the top of a soda can. The top of the dress looks like a dirty apron of a dishwasher. Lastly the bag looks like its made of cheap fabric thats holographic crinkly. I am not a fan of this look and to me it doesn't translate well, runway can be high fashion and hard to interpret sometimes, but sometimes it goes too far.

Look 3 - The main reason I included this look from the runway collection, is because I adored the extremely oversized details of the bag handle and the sunglasses. Even though it's odd I would love a bag like this with a disproportionate buckle on it. I think it looks so cool and is incredibly unnecessary. The oversized Linen blazer works like a dress over the sheer button down that is underneath. I love that the designer really played with proportions of clothes, but in my opinion it still totally works and it doesn't look like the model is swimming in too much fabric.

Look 4 - This is my favorite look of the collection. I love the sheer reworked fabric that with the seam lines makes a new pattern on the skirt. The top has the same drape and cut as the first look. Although this model has many more jewelry accessories, an oversized gem ring, lots of layered necklaces and statement earrings. All of the Accessories are tonally a muted orange which works really well with this shade of yellow in the clothing. The same flip flops again as the first look, which give it a beachy vibe.

Look 5 - The Final look I wanted to include is this tone on tone grey outfit, with the same socks and sandals and oversized glasses as some of the previous looks. I love the sheer pants that show the socks and shoes. The blazer is again worn by itself as a dress with what looks like no top underneath with a bunch of necklaces. The deep V cut and the necklaces really compliment the model's décolletage.
