The first sketch on the left is a dress called "Fancy", in my Klutz fashion drawing kit that I used to make all of these fashion sketches in Elementary school had these really cool texture mats that you could color over and you could get different fabric textures.
I knew drawing the new sketch it would be hard to replicate the same pattern, so thats why I decided to go for a checkered print. I kept the shoes, the small slit on the left leg, and the rose detail all the same. The new sketch on the right is a strapless corset top with a mid rise skirt. The little rose detail instead of being on the hip I put in the center of the bust of the new sketch.
The last picture is my process of looking at my old sketch while creating my new one, I normally get out all of the colored pencil colors I think ill use for shading, hair color, skin color, and any small details on the clothing. I made a scan copy of a basic croquis I drew so all my sketches are uniform on the same body with the same face. I add hair that I think looks best with the chosen outfit, I always draw in pencil first, then colored pencil, and then I sometimes will add some alcohol marker to add detail to certain areas and then I go over any lines that get lost in the color with my favorite sharpie gel pen.
